Jade Goody was offered celebrities’ support as she suffered

Davina McCall, the host of Channel 4’s Big Brother contest, which made her a household name in 2002, previously told Absolute Radio: “Obviously my heart goes out to Jade and her family and her boys and her mum because I always think it’s so hard for mums as well.

“You can never prepare yourself to lose your baby before you and I feel very sorry for Jackiey (Budden) as well.” Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, whose treatment at the hands of Goody and others on the TV show sparked international condemnation, said: “I buried the hatchet a very long time ago, not because I’d heard about her being diagnosed with cancer.

“I’d repeatedly told people my feelings and I really didn’t want to have any ill feelings against her.” She continued: “It’s really sad to know that her health is deteriorating and I really want people to forget the past and I really want them to pray and send her good wishes because that’s something that will give her energy.”

Celebrity Big Brother to return to screens

Celebrity Big Brother is to return to television screens tonight, with Ulrika Jonsson among those exptected to enter the house. The Channel 4 reality show is back following the race row in 2007, although bosses have insisted that the programme will not be “sanitised”.

The treatment of Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty by Jade Goody and other housemates on the programme caused a furore two years ago. The official celebrity contestant line-up is yet to be revealed, although unconfirmed rumours of who will take part have been rife.

Names appearing of those thought to be appearing have included Liberty X’s Michelle Heaton, former Sugababe Mutya Buena, broadcaster and former presenter of television’s The Word Terry Christian, Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer and soul singer La Toya Jackson.
